Q. What's the first thing you think of when you see the color "mimosa"?
Ben: Trendy. There are a certain set of colors that are timeless, but that means they are never going to be the "in color" of the time. Most of the in colors I see have many limitations to use and you can already tell they will have a time stamp to them. As much as I love trendy colors, you have to be careful of how and when to use them.
Kerri: Drinking before noon (ha!), sunshine, a blue sky.
Q. What client can you imagine working this color into a publication for?
Ben: I think this would be a good color for Hooah!, a magazine we help write and design for our clients, ioStudios and the Army National Guard. The "hot" colors like this would probably appeal to the younger audience.
Kerri: Goldish colors are good for any client I think. It's warm, inviting and happy. Who doesn't need that in a publication?
Q. What other colors would look good with mimosa?
Ben: I would like a warm set of colors to go with mimosa; a couple of earthy oranges and maybe a crimson to complement it.
Kerri: Well, the opposite would be a bluish hue, so that would balance. But I like to play with lots of colors really close to the same side of the color wheel. It's fun to put colors together that aren't expected.
Q. What's your favorite drink to have with Sunday morning brunch?
Ben: I would have to go with a nice hot cup of joe to go with my brunch meal, but a mimosa is sounding good right about now.
Kerri: Since it's too early for wine, I'm going with a mimosa.
