Using Social Media for Your Company's Holiday Message

The election is in the history books. The Halloween candy is gone. And the holidays are sneaking up quickly. How will you be getting your holiday message out to current (and potential) customers and clients? Now is a great time to add social media to your marketing efforts if haven't yet. And if you've already embraced it, getting your holiday message out is a great way to use the hand in your social media deck.

  • Blogging: If you blog, you have a platform all your own to tell the world what's going on in your business or organization year round. And the holiday season is a great time to use it. If you're wondering what to blog about, consider holiday sales, events and days you may be closed for business.
  • Twitter: Even though you have only 140 characters to use, there is so much to say using Twitter. Tell your "followers" about holiday specials, promotions and events you'll be participating in throughout the season.
  • Flickr: If you'll be involved in community events this holiday season such as collecting coats for veterans or boxing care packages for soldiers, make sure someone has a camera in hand to capture every moment. Uploading pictures to Flickr is a great way to show off your involvement and create a pictorial story of your company's holiday season.
  • Facebook: If your business or organization will be collecting toys during the holidays, Facebook makes it easy for you to create events where "friends" to see what you're up to and join in on the festivities.
