Hammock HQ Heading Downtown

Posted on January 16, 2013 in About Hammock, by Hammock Inc.

814 Church Street, Nashville

(Updated with Official Address and Map, Scroll to Bottom.)

We’ll be filling in the details later, but we’ve got some exciting news to share: We’re moving the home offices of Hammock to downtown Nashville.

After 21 years at the same “midtown” Nashville address, in a few weeks, we’ll be relocating to the heart of what GQ Magazine last year re-named “Nowville” (PDF). We’ll be renovating and occupying a full floor of the office building built in 1934 at 814 Church Street — the former Nashville Gas Company office at 8th and Church. (As we’ll be occupying temporary space in the building during the renovation, details on our official address change will be posted on our blog and contact page in a few days.)

We are fortunate to work with clients, suppliers, developers and creative partners throughout the United States. Thanks to the Internet and Southwest Airlines, we can do such work from coast to coast and still be able to call Nashville home. We are fortunate to be friends and colleagues of many of the people who are leading the entrepreneurial, creative, tech-savvy and civic-minded efforts that are bringing to life the kind of Nashville that trend-spotters are now discovering.

We also recognize that much of what makes Nashville great is just plain luck. Not winning-the-lottery luck. But luck in having the right location and right history and right people and the right twists and turns of booms and setbacks that have all come together in a way not even the most gung-ho city boosters could have dreamed up.

The fact is, we’re Nashville boosters, and we couldn’t dream this stuff up.

Last week, the New York Times featured Nashville’s role as the nation’s current “it city” — and explored the multifaceted and cross-current vibrancy of the city — along with the challenges it faces.

Quote:

“Flush with young new residents and alive with immigrants, tourists and music, the city made its way to the top of all kinds of lists in 2012. A Gallup poll ranked it in the top five regions for job growth. A national entrepreneurs’ group called it one of the best places to begin a technology start-up. Critics admire its growing food scene.

Like we said, we couldn’t have made this up.

And we love the place.

We believe that moving downtown and creating a unique new floor of creative workspace in an office building constructed in 1935 is an expression of our commitment to — and belief in — the past, present and future of Nashville.

We believe moving downtown is another way Hammock can continue to participate in — and add to — the creative and entrepreneurial development of a city that is a great place to visit, work, play and live.

Stay tuned: We’ll be sharing more before and during the move on this blog.

Update:

Our new address is a lot like our old address:

3322 West End Avenue, Ste. 100

814 Church Street, Suite 201
Nashville, TN 37203

Later this year, after the design & construction phase, we’ll be updating the Suite number.

For those of you familiar with Nashville, this Street View version of Google Maps will help you visually vector to the familiar location at the corner of Church and Ninth Avenue North.
