Hammock Inc. -- and the publications we create for our clients -- was recently awarded several APEX 2009 Awards, including a coveted Grand Award.

The Grand Award, Magazines and Journals category, was given for the January/February 2009 issue of American Spirit, the national magazine we publish for the Daughters of the American Revolution.

One of the judges said: "A very elegant and a very inviting design, with each gorgeous spread a unique layout and each a pleasing surprise to the reader. Masterful use of headline schedules, type, callouts, sidebars, illustrations and photography -- all first rate -- make this a coffee table-grade publication."

Other APEX awards we'll be proudly displaying on the mantel include Awards of Excellence for:

  • Magazine Writing: Entire issue (July/Aug 2008), American Spirit
  • News Writing: Semper Fi, Marine Recruiting article
  • Regular Departments and Columns: MyBusiness Manual
  • Photography: Semper Fi, opening shot of March-April EGA, "The Crucible."

Almost 3,800 submissions were judged on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and communications effectiveness and excellence. We're very proud to have our name on the list of winners!
