Jamie Roberts and I attended the annual Soup Cook-Off today over at NFIB's Nashville Headquarters. In addition to donating the grand prize and helping choose the winners by voting for our favorite soup, we also participated in the Origami Boat Regatta. Read on to find out how the "Pots O'Gold" fared in the race and which soup was declared king.
Our team, the Pots O'Gold, didn't make it past Round 1, but it wasn't for lack of trying.
Well, I had long given up on following the complicated instructions for making my own origami boat and was hitting the dessert table when my fellow teammates, Jamie, Tanya Hudson (from NFIB's accounting department) and Vanessa Sevier (from NFIB HR) finally figured it out.

Even though we technically didn't win, we consider ourselves winners based on the simple fact that the boat stayed afloat. Who knew we were such origami boat making wizards?
After the boat regatta, the winners of the soup cook-off were announced. Two variations of Taco Soup took second and third place, while Chicken and Wild Rice took home the grand prize.
You can't beat a lunch like that on a Monday afternoon.
